Your Visit

Theatre 101

First time attending New Rep, or a theatre performance in general? Start here!

Tickets to New Rep can be purchased online, over the phone, or in person before the show (pending availability). Prices start at $25, and we have a wide variety of pricing options for students, young adults, senior citizens, military personnel, WIC/EBT card holders, etc. Visit our Ticket Info page for more information!

We request that patrons arrive 30 minutes prior to the performance start time. This allows enough time for you to park, pick up your ticket, use the restroom, and grab a drink/snack before the curtain goes up. Late-seating is only sometimes available, and you won’t want to miss any of the show!

New Rep performs at the Mosesian Center for the Arts, located at 321 Arsenal St. Watertown, MA 02472. We recommend that all first-timers check out our Directions & Parking page before your visit, so that you’re clear on where to go!

Yes! There are numerous places to eat close to our theater, ranging from fast-casual Panera and Chipotle, to higher-end dining. Our Area Dining page is a great place to start, with restaurants tried and tested by the New Rep staff.

Unlike many theater companies, New Rep does not have a dress code! Please wear whatever makes you comfortable. We do recommend layers, as the temperature in the theater can vary, and ask that you leave large bags at home.

There are accessible restrooms on all three levels of the Mosesian Center for the Arts (MCA). Lines can get long at intermission, so we recommend that you use the restrooms before the show begins.

Concessions (snacks, beverages, and alcohol for those 21+) are available for purchase in the lobby of the MCA before the performance, and at intermission. We ask that you kindly finish your snack in the lobby, as to avoid any disruptive rustling and crunching during the performance.

During cooler months, we will have a rack for your coats available in the lobby, but do not have a supervised coat check area.

Theatre playbills (or programs) are filled with tons of useful information about the show, artists, and company. Starting in the 20/21 season, New Rep will no longer print physical programs, in an effort to reduce our ecological footprint. The programs will be available on our website and emailed to you before the show, and can be accessed by scanning a QR code while at the theater.

You do not have to be silent during a performance – clapping, laughing, crying, and other emotional responses are not only welcomed, but encouraged. However, things like talking during the show, ringing cell phones, crying children, etc. are disruptive to other theatre-goers as well as artists on stage.

Photography or recordings of any kind are strictly prohibited by our licensing rights (the people who allow us to perform a show), as well as contracts protecting artists and their work.

Most shows will have a 15-minute break between acts (called an intermission), but this is not always the case! You can find whether or not a show has an intermission on our website, and in the email you will receive 24 hours before your scheduled performance time.

And lastly, please be courteous! Many of the people around you have either worked on this production, or are friends, family, and fans of the show and the artists involved. Negative comments and spoilers are best kept for outside of the theater space.
