Frequently Asked Questions

What is an Enthusiast Package?
With an Enthusiast Package, you get to see every show we produce in the Mosesian Theater and Downstage @ New Rep (excluding Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol and The Santaland Diaries ) for the best price. This Package is for the avid theatergoer who is dedicated to seeing all New Rep has to offer.

How do I renew into the same seats as last year?
Anyone who was a 5-Play Subscriber at New Repertory Theatre during the 2006-07 Season will receive the same seats for the 2007-08 Season by renewing into an Enthusiast Package or a 5-Play Subscription before the April 30, 2007 deadline. We are holding those seats just for you!

How do I get better or closer seats for the 2007-2008 Season?
When you renew, you are guaranteed at least the seats you had in the 2006-07 season. If you would like to upgrade your seating, please indicate that on the back of your invoice. After the renewal deadline, we will release the seats of Subscribers who haven’t renewed. At this time, we will do our very best to upgrade your seats.

I would like to see New Rep performances on a different day of the week than the 2006-2007 Season. How do I do that?
Your renewal invoice indicates the day of the week which you attended during the 2006-07 Season. If you would like to change to a different day of the week, please indicate your new choice of series on the back of your renewal invoice. If you change into a different day of the week, we will do our best to seat you as close as possible to your current seats.

What is the difference between Mainstage productions and Downstage @ New Rep?
Our Mainstage productions are the five shows we produce in the 340-seat Mosesian Theater at the Arsenal Center for the Arts. Downstage @ New Rep productions are the three shows we produce in the very intimate 90-seat Black Box Theater at the Arsenal Center for the Arts. Seating in the Black Box Theater is general admission, but the best seats will be reserved for subscribers. Downstage @ New Rep is now in its second season of Big Ideas on a Small Scale.

Downstage @ New Rep sounds great, but can I still just get the 5 plays in the Mosesian Theater?
Yes, of course. On your renewal form, you will see a place to order just a 5-Play. All you need to do is subtract $50.00 per subscription from the Enthusiast price listed. If you do choose to subscribe to just a 5-Play, we recommend trying out a Downstage show at the $21.00 Subscriber price to see what Downstage @ New Rep is all about.

I had a 3-Play Subscription for the 2006-07 Season, can I renew into a 3-Play Subscription for 2007-2008?
Yes, you can. However, we have had such demand for premium orchestra seating on Friday Press Openings, weekend matinees and Saturday evenings that for those performances, the only orchestra subscription available will be an Enthusiast or 5-Play Package. Renewing 3-Play Subscribers will be seated after all renewing Enthusiasts and 5-Play Subscribers have been seated and have had their seating changes and upgrades honored. 3-Play Subscribers will get the best seats available for each show but will not be guaranteed the same seats for each show. Please call the Box Office for prices on 3-Play Subscriptions.

Are “Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol” or “The Santaland Diaries” subscription options?
No, they are not. However, renewing subscribers may purchase tickets now to these special holiday events before the tickets go on sale to the general public. Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol is a tradition for the entire family and The Santaland Diaries , featuring John Kuntz, is recommended for adults only.

How can I sit with my friends?
Please list the names of your friends on the back of your invoice, and make sure they list your name on the back of theirs as well. Even if you think we know you sit with these friends, it is best for everyone that you still list their names on the back.

There is a date in my series I cannot attend. Can I exchange my tickets now?
Exchanges cannot happen until after you have received your tickets in the mail. At that time, you can exchange any date at any time. Just one of the many benefits of being a New Rep Subscriber!

When will I receive my tickets?
Your tickets will be mailed out in mid-August. So, watch your mailbox, or let us know your summer address if it is different from the one listed on your invoice.

I’m already paying for a full subscription, why are you asking me to make a donation?
Subscriptions only cover 75% of our work. The difference is made up by donors like you, and any size gift is greatly appreciated. Did you know you could participate in our Adopt-a-School program and provide a free performance of New Rep On Tour? Fund a visiting artist? Underwrite the cost of a show? Please consider a contribution with your subscription or call 617-923-7060 x203 for more information on giving to New Rep. Thank you!
