New Repertory Theatre Summer StudioSummer Studio

New Rep Summer Studio is a 4-week program geared towards musical and non-musical high school students (grades 9-12) at any experience level who are interested in performing and exploring various approaches and methods to developing the craft of acting. Students will have the opportunity to work with professional Boston-based actors and teaching artists through a series of classes, workshops, rehearsals, and performances. At the end of the program, each student will gain the tools and most importantly the confidence to approach the art of performance.  The program runs July 9, 2012 through August 4, 2012 with public performances August 2, 3, and 4, 2012.

Working
from the book by Studs Terkel
Adapted by Stephen Schwartz & Nina Faso

Brought to you by Stephen Schwartz, the composer and lyricist of Wicked, Working is a poignant, hard-hitting story that follows the day-to-day lives, dreams, and hopes of the working class. Called "the working man's A Chorus Line," this genuinely funny and touching musical celebrates working people from all walks of life. From an iron worker to an office worker to a housecleaner and many jobs in between, Working will offer complex opportunities for all skill levels.

Auditions (for role assignments) will take place on the first day of Summer Studio. Students need to prepare a one-minute monologue. Those who wish to sing should bring in a short song, including music for the accompanist. Roles will be assigned the following day.
