Dear Friends, We have exciting news to share and we wanted you to be the first to know. After a five month nationwide search, New Repertory Theatre is pleased to announce that Kate Warner, nationally known, award-winning director from Atlanta-based Dad's Garage Theatre Company, will be our new Artistic Director. |
Kate brings to the position a combination of artistic excellence, programming savvy, and proven leadership. Kate was the Artistic Associate with Dad’s Garage from 2003–2005 before assuming the leadership as Artistic Director in 2005. As the Artistic Director for Dad’s Garage, she has produced and directed five world premieres and directed many critically acclaimed shows which garnered her a Suzi Bass Nomination and Award for Best Director in 2008 and 2006, respectively. In addition to her directing work at Dad's Garage, she has directed at Magic Theatre in San Francisco, Actor's Express and Theatrical Outfit in Atlanta, and American Stage Theatre in Tampa Bay, among others. During Kate's tenure, Dad's Garage expanded its budget by 30% and increased the audience to over 30,000 patrons each year, while maintaining a fiscally sound operation.
Kate's success as an artist and institutional leader is known both in Atlanta and nationwide. As an Executive Committee Board Member of the national service organization Theatre Communications Group (TCG), Kate has insight as to what is happening nationally in the arts, and she is well respected by her peers in the field. Her connections to TCG theatres and her reputation as an artist will certainly help New Rep gain national exposure. In addition to her work with TCG, Kate has been actively involved in many Atlanta organizations and has served on several boards including Kennesaw State University and Atlanta Coalition for the Performing Arts.
Kate will be a great partner for Harriet Sheets our Managing Director, and an exciting, collaborative artistic leader for the New Rep staff and the Boston theatre artists. We look forward to the energy and insight she brings to New Rep as we launch a new era for the theatre.
Over the coming months, New Repertory Theatre's Board and staff will create several opportunities for our individual and institutional donors, subscribers, and the Boston theatre community to meet with Kate. We hope to see you at one of these events, which will be announced in the coming months.
If you have any questions, please contact Mark Soucy, Development Manager at 617-923-7060, extension 203.
Thank you and we'll see you at the theatre!
Sincerely,

Michael McCay
Board Chair
