Classic Repertory Company (formerly New Rep On Tour)
Touring the great works throughout New England, the Classic Repertory Company is New Rep’s flagship educational outreach program, bringing professional productions of classic and relevant plays to middle and high schools. The CRC also offers a variety of workshops for school, community and professional audiences including Trying on Shakespeare, allowing students to expand their understanding of the Bard’s texts and language, and Theatre Making, a marathon session creating stories, characters, culminating in a piece of original theatre. Upcoming 2012-2013 Classic Repertory Company productions include 90-minute adaptations of To Kill A Mockingbird and Romeo and Juliet.
Student Matinee Performances
New Repertory Theatre provides accessible and affordable professional theatre to schools. Through discounted tickets to specially-scheduled matinee performances, students experience mainstage theatre within a helpful context by which to better understand themes, story-lines, and characters.
Page to Stage
New Rep invites true theatre enthusiasts to go beyond the insider experiences by exploring a play and all its components as it evolves from page to stage. With professional theatre artists, participants will delve into areas of storytelling, play context, creation of the design world (scenic, costume, sound, light), actors’ interpretation of dialogue, and audience criticism in this multi-session in-depth theatre survey. The 2012-2013 Season features two sessions: Fall 2012: RACE by David Mamet and Spring 2013: AMADEUS by Peter Shaffer.
Spotlight Symposium Series
New Rep invites theatergoers to catch special glimpses into the inner workings of professional theatre. The series allows insiders to explore various aspects of theatre including Post-Performance Discussions, Play Club, Meet the Designer Events, First Rehearsals, and Sneak Peeks.
