Over 250 guests gathered to celebrate New Rep’s 30th Anniversary Season in grand style on Wednesday, May 7.   On a beautiful spring night, party-goers were greeted by OLD TOWN TROLLEY at the Arsenal Center for the Arts and then whisked away to the festive tent at The Commander’s Mansion decorated in the spirit of ON THE VERGE.

Festive food and drink was enjoyed from our fabulous restaurant partners including AB CATERING, THE CATERER, NOT YOUR AVERAGE JOES, TERRY O’REILLY’S, SENSATIONAL FOODS and STELLINA RESTAURANT.  Board Members, actors, honorees, and long-time patrons mingled and enjoyed the evening all the while placing Silent Auction bids, purchasing raffle tickets and soaking in the atmosphere which included flowers by JOHN LAROCHE OF BLUGUAVA.  The specialty cocktail created by PREMIER BARTENDING & BEVERAGE SERVICE, “The Trailblazer” was a delicious way to toast the evening!  Why not whip one up at home and say cheers to 30 years?

“The Trailblazer”
1.5 oz vodka
.75 oz Blue Curacao
3 oz White Cranberry juice

As guests entered the Arsenal Center for the Arts, they were greeted by the magnificent sounds of students from SUZUKI SCHOOL OF NEWTON.  When entering the theatre, Lilia Wood and Vladmyr Derisier from BALLROOM IN BOSTON dazzled the crowd showcasing several dance styles.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the awards to our distinguished honorees.  State Representative JONATHAN HECHT presented ANITA WALKER of the Massachusetts Cultural Council with the 2014 Community Advocate Award.  WGBH’s JARED BOWEN presented the 2014 Artistic Award to ROBERT BRUSTEIN, innovator and pioneer of Boston theatre and Board Member MARCY CRARY presented the inaugural Karoff Award for Lifelong Leadership to founding Board Members, MARTHA & PETER KAROFF.

The program also integrated with dazzling performances by LEIGH BARRETT, DAVID FOLEY, and MCCAELA DONOVAN accompanied by MATTHEW STERN.  NECN’S STEVE AVESON led a spirited Live Auction that raised nearly $10,000 and rallied the audience for the “Fund A Future” campaign that raised over $30,000. The audience was inspired after a passionate speech by teacher LISA STOTT of the Emily G. Wetherbee School and her pupil TIANNA FISHER.  The night was capped off with dessert provided by MARMALADIES.

New Rep is proud to announce we raised over $130,000 at the New Rep Gala and we could not have done it without the support and enthusiasm of our Board, Gala Committee, Honorary Committee, Sponsors, Local Business Partners, Volunteers and Staff.  Special thanks to all our Silent Auction supporters, Live Auction Supporters, and our committed and generous donors.

We congratulate our New Rep Gala Raffle winners and thank everyone who purchased a ticket!
