New Rep takes home eight awards from the 2006 IRNEs

The Independent Reviewers of New England (IRNE) held their annual awards ceremony on Monday, March 27. New Repertory Theatre received eight awards, out of sixteen nominations, for the 2005 calendar year. Three of New Rep’s productions were honored at the ceremony, with Into the Woods, the most successful production in New Rep’s history, receiving the most awards.
New Repertory Theatre’s IRNE Awards for 2005
- Best Actor – Drama, Todd Alan Johnson for True West and Joe Wilson, Jr. for Topdog/Underdog
- Best Actress - Musical, Leigh Barrett for Into the Woods
- Best Music Director, Todd C. Gordon for Into the Woods
- Best Supporting Actor – Musical, Todd Alan Johnson for Into the Woods
- Best Supporting Actress - Musical, Veronica J. Kuehn for Into the Woods
- Best Set Design, Eugene Lee for Topdog/Underdog
- Best Costume Design, Nancy Leary for Into the Woods
New Repertory Theatre presents provocative and intelligent works of both established and emerging playwrights in an intimate setting that involves and engages the audience. New Rep has earned a reputation for dynamic productions that honor the writers and feature talented professional actors from the New England theatre community as well as guest artists from around the U.S. New Rep has received Elliot Norton and IRNE Awards for outstanding acting, scenic design, direction, and production.
